MATTHEW McConaughey says How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is “teed up” for sequel, 17 years after he first starred alongside Kate Hudson in the fan favorite romantic comedy.
Aside from the reported reboot, Matthew has decided to step away from the rom-com genre altogether.
Matthew McConaughey says he no longer wants to film romantic comedies[/caption]This statement seems to ring true, however excluding one specific film – a sequel to the oh-so-classic How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days with co-star Kate Hudson.
When asked in a recent interview with E!’s Daily Pop if he would ever pursue a sequel with the classic American film, the Oscar award-winning star said: “Possibly. I mean, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is teed up, you know, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel.
“And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one.”
The 51-year-old actor later added: “And it lasts! People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.”
Matthew starred alongside Kate Hudson in the 2003 film[/caption] Kate’s character Andie emerging in the beautiful silk yellow dress is an iconic moment for the film[/caption]In the original film, Kate plays a writer for a women’s magazine named Andie and Matthew plays a man-child ad executive named Ben.
The two character’s relationship blossoms under the wrong pretenses, and when they begin to catch feelings the real drama begins.
How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days has had impressive success and recently celebrated its 17th anniversary earlier in 2020.
Kate also spoke about a reboot to Elle Magazine, stating that she thinks the characters would be “miserable” at this point of their relationship.
“I’ve always thought about what Matthew and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together. It’s actually probably [been] a good amount of time to make a movie about it. We probably would have gotten married with kids. We’re probably miserable right now!”
Kate also believes it would be interesting to see where their characters are at now, 17 years later[/caption] No sequel has been announced of yet[/caption]This isn’t the first time Kate has made negative comments regarding the couple’s on-screen romance.

The Almost Famous actress recently told Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast that her on-screen kisses with Matthew were unpleasant, saying: “The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey, it’s like, I mean, it’s like there’s just something happening and there’s like snot or wind, or things are just… like when we were kissing in the end of Fool’s Gold, we’re like in the ocean, we like had the plane crash.”
She then references her specific kiss with Matthew from How To Lose A Guy, saying: “He just had snot all over his face.”
